World of Warcraft has a plethora of mounts to collect, currently at this point their is over 600 mounts obtainable in the game. These range from reputation grinds, rare spawns, rare drops and more but which are the hardest to get?

When we say hardest, we don’t mean the mounts with the lowest drop chance, because sure they are difficult to come by, but it also doesn’t stop a new player from getting them on their first try because RNG is RNG.

So we will be running through the 5 hardest mounts to obtain currently (patch 8.3) in World of Warcraft, excluding those that are heavily RNG based as their difficulty varies based on luck.

Number 5 – Pureheart Courser

Mounts aren’t the only thing World of Warcraft has, it also has just over 100 reputations for you to grind out and for the players who put in the effort to learn how to get 100 reputations to exalted and put in the time to make that happen will be awarded with the Pureheart Courser mount.

Now some may say “well it just takes time investment”, which is partly true but it also requires a fair amount of game knowledge, these reputations come in all different types, from mob grinds, to dailies quests, weeks of grinding and more. On top of that there are only just over 100 obtainable reputations in WoW currently, which means a player who wants this mount has to go through nearly all of them, even the worst and most mind numbing of the reputations

Number 4 – Frenzied Feltalon

To further motivate players to collect mounts in World of Warcraft, there are even achievements that will give you mounts for collecting mounts. For the best of the best collectors who are able to obtain 400+ mounts usable on one character they will be awarded with the Frenzied Feltalon.

For a player to obtain 400 mounts they truly have to get their feet wet in all types of content, from dungeons, raids, achievements, gold, pvp and more. These players have to experience nearly all of the content that WoW has to offer to be able to expand their mount collection far enough for the achievement A Horde of Hoof Beats and be rewarded with the Frenzied Feltalon.

Number 3 – Ny’alotha Allseer

Now this spot is a bit more flexible, it isn’t the Ny’alotha Allseer in particular but more referring to whatever the current relevant Cutting Edge mount is. For those unaware what Cutting Edge is, it is to complete the final boss of the latest raid on Mythic difficulty, which is the hardest difficulty you can raid on.

Clearing a raid on Mythic is rough, it requires you to get 20 skilled players together consistently and to put in hours and hours on the same boss fights until you get it right but not only that it requires these players to keep up with whatever the current game grinds are so that their characters do not fall behind.

You’ve probably seen people offering boosts to buy this mount for gold but you have to keep in mind that it then means these skilled players are handicapping themselves further to offer a boost, just showing how well they have learned to play together.

Number 2 – Corrupted Gladiator’s Proto-Drake

Similar to Number 3, this isn’t just the Corrupted Gladiator’s Proto-Drake but instead whatever the current seasons arena mount is. To obtain a gladiator mount you need to reach a rating of 2400 at least.

This requires a PvP team to have very high knowledge of their own classes, how their classes function together and also high knowledge of all the other classes and compositions in the game so that they understand how to approach an arena match. PvP as you can assume is player vs player, meaning the higher rating you get, the more skilled your opponents will be and the more skilled you need to be in return to be able to win and progress. To those skilled enough though they will be awarded with a gladiator mount, which are generally some of the coolest looking mounts in thegame.

The crazy part is that obtaining a gladiator mount has become easier in Battle for Azeroth, previously players had to be the top % of the PvP ladder to be eligible. Now the number of players who have a shot at this mount has increased but it still makes up a tiny percentage of the player base who are actually able to achieve it.

Number 1 – Prestigious Bloodforged Courser

This spot may surprise you, you may not even know what this mount is. The Prestigious Bloodforged Courser is a reward for reaching Honor Level 500 via the PvP system in WoW. To put it in perspective of how much work goes into getting level 500, 0.1% of the player base currently has obtained this mount, in a game with millions of players it’s such a small number of people.

Reaching Honor Level 500 may not require much skill, in fact pretty much no skill at all but what it does require is intense dedication to the same content. You gain Honor via PvP activities such as Battle Grounds or PvP World Quests. Although it takes hours of these activities a day just to obtain one Honor Level. Even if a player was to put in the time to reach at least 1 Honor Level per day, it would still take them 500 days to reach the rank required for this mount. For that reason we feel it is the hardest mount to currently obtain in the game, as nothing else would require even close to 500 days worth of effort to reach.
