Guide
How to unlock Zaralek Cavern
In order to start the patch 10.1 campaign to open the Zaralek Cavern, you first need to complete the Forbidden Reach campaign up to the A Creche Divided quest.
Finishing the Scar of Earth and Fire quest on one character will unlock tunnels to the Zaralek Cavern for all your characters but the Forbidden Reach campaign still needs to be completed or skipped on each character separately to get access to the 10.1 campaign.
The beginning quest that will lead you into the Zaralek Cavern is called The Land Beneath, which is picked up from Hadexian on the left side at the top of the Seat of the Aspects.

This questline is the first chapter of the 10.1 campaign and completing it will grant you access to all main features of the Cavern.
The Subterranean Magmammoth mount can be purchased from Saccratros in Loamm in the Zaralek Cavern for 400 Coveted Baubles.

Coveted Baubles can only be obtained by exchanging Unearthed Fragrant Coins with Spinsoa, who is right next to Saccratros. Both currencies are Blizzard account bound so they can be traded freely among all your characters. Unearthed Fragrant Coins are acquired through doing various events in the Zaralek Cavern.
The fastest method of gaining Coins is by completing the Researchers Under Fire event. This event is located in the middle of Zaralek Cavern and is up every half hour.
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-8.png)
If you’re not on a highly populated server, I would recommend looking through the group finder to see if there are any active groups doing this event. Having more people makes it easier to fully complete the event which will guarantee the best reward– the Indebted Researcher’s Gift which will give 60 Unearthed Fragrant Coins. The blue reward, Thankful Researcher’s Gift, awards 45 Coins. The green and white boxes also award coins but much less. You can’t get the same bag more than once a week on a character so patience or a lot of alts is advised.
The other way to earn Unearthed Fragrant Coins is by completing little events scattered throughout the Zaralek Cavern. Each event gives either Clinking Dirt-Covered Pouch or Clanging Dirt-Covered Pouch which drop multiple Coins among other things. There are 18 events in total. These events have a four day loot lockout, just like the rares.

I will touch on what you’re supposed to do for each event below. Additionally, there is WeakAura you can download that will keep track of which events you have done on your screen here.

Cascades Calling
Spawn announcement: The Primalists have begun summoning something massive in the Cascades Column!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-11.png)
For this event, several Primalists are attempting to summon a large water elemental. You have to destroy all 8 control pylons in the area. Then you are free to kill the Primalist boss Rimecaller Raava and the water elemental Frigidus which will complete the event.
Conspiracy of Flame
Spawn announcement: Ancient djaradin chants echo from the caldera…
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-12.png)
To start, kill all the mobs in the area. Your objective is to click on and channel whichever of the five ancient dragon skulls has the glowing fiery eyes and a lava orb floating above it. Once you have completely empowered all five, the event will be completed!
Crystalline Survey
Spawn announcement: The sound of crystals ringing echoes through the cavern. The geological survey is about to begin near the Throughway!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-13.png)
The Dragonscale Expedition is doing a survey around the area. Kill Agitated Crystalline golems in the area for 2-3% progress each until the bar hits 100% and the research is finished.
Discordant Crystals
Spawn announcement: The delicate natural song of the cavern is disrupted by violent, discordant notes!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-14.png)
This event is the simplest– just kill the Discordant Lodestone. A lot of mobs will spawn as you’re destroying it so you may have to fight them off. If you can burn the Lodestone fast enough then focus on it because the mobs will disappear as soon as it’s killed!
Glimmerfish Before It’s Gone
Spawn announcement: A giant fish has been spotted near Glimmerogg!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-15.png)
The Glimmerfish is a huge neutral fish mob that spawns at the top of the river system and slowly swims downstream. Attacking the fish causes scales to drop off. Pick up enough scales before it gets to the lava area and despawns to complete the event.
Hungry Hungry Hydra
Spawn announcement: A starving hydra emerges from the lava, looking for a quick meal!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-16.png)
Aggro mobs and walk them over to front of one of the Hydra’s heads. The Hydra will eat the mob and gain satiation. Do this ten times until the Hydra is full to conclude the event!
Imperfect Balance
Spawn announcement: A vicious roar resonates through the caldera.
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-17.png)
The event requires you to stand in a lava circle until you fill up the lava infusion bar on the Fury of the Caldera elemental. You then need to do the same with the earth circle. After both infusion bars are filled up, the shield on the elemental will break and you can now kill it to complete the event. Beware of the other mobs near the elemental as they will all be pulled once you begin attacking it.
Magmaclaw Matriarch
Spawn announcement: A spawning swarm of magmaclaws begins to form, threatening the ecological balance of the caverns!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-18.png)
This event is completed by killing Magmaclaw Supplicants and destroying Singed Offerings in the area. They give about 5-6% percent completion each. Once you have reached 100% on the ritual bar located in a lava pool nearby, it will cause the Magmaclaw Queen to spawn and you must kill her to finish the event.
Monument Maintenance
Spawn announcement: Light flickers fitfully around a crumbling titan statue in the ruins of Nal ks’kol!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-19.png)
This event requires you to reassemble a statue. There are three parts you must find– a sphere, an orb and a head. They are scattered around the small area and will show on your minimap. You must carry each part back to the statue’s base. You will drop the piece you’re carrying if you get into combat and you cannot mount while carrying it.
Mortar Warfare
Spawn announcement: War cries erupt from the caldera as the djaradin begin to assemble their ballistae.
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-20.png)
To do this event, you have to pick up lava orbs off of the ground. They will give you an extra action button called Frothing Lava. Target one of the three Dragonkiller Ballistae in the area and use the extra action button on it. They will need multiple hits to be taken down but once you destroy all three, you’re done!
Seismic Ceremony
Spawn announcement: The caldera begins to rumble…
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-21.png)
For this event, you have to channel on each of the four rocks three times. Getting quaked will stop your channel. Enter the rock circle right after the quake, complete your channel and then walk out again to kill the mobs that spawned. Repeat this step until you’ve deactivated all four of the rocks and you’re done!
Shellfire
Spawn announcement: A fire elemental approaches Olfor and Big Bessie!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-22.png)
Big Ol’ Bessie the rock snail has been set on fire! She will move around the area erratically. Your job is to pick up Jars of Snuffer Powder in the area and use the extra action button to throw them on top of her until her fire is put out. Kill any fire elementals that spawn. Once she’s no longer on fire, the event will complete and you can pet her!
Smellincense
Spawn announcement: Delvert is starting to heat up his smelly pot by Deephollow Lake!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-23.png)
A Niffen cart is under attack! Protect the cart by killing mobs that attack it. Collect incense that has been scattered on the ground and bring it back to the cart. The event ends when you gather 30 in total.
Smelly Scramble
Spawn announcement: Muskmettle the Smellomancer is getting ready to brew!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-24.png)
The point of this event is to get the bubbles back to the pot. You are rooted while you’re holding a bubble so you have to use an extra action button to throw it ahead of you. If there are other players in the area, they can catch the bubble and then throw it again right away. If you’re solo, you can just walk up to it yourself and keep tossing it until it gets back into the pot. Event completes when the Smelliness progress bar is filled.
Stress Express
Spawn announcement: Doopurt’s wagon broke down in the Throughway!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-25.png)
To complete this event, push Doopurt’s wagon by doing damage to it. The more damage, the faster the wagon will go. Bronk the Bully will sometimes interfere so DPS him down to make him go away. Keep pushing the wagon until it reaches Loamm to finish the event.
Strike the Colors
Spawn announcement: Neltharion loyalists unfurl giant banners proclaiming their loyalty to Deathwing’s memory!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-26.png)
This event is very simple! Just look for four large banners in the area that look like the one above. Land at the top, kill the mob(s) if there are any and then click on the flag to replace it.
The Champion’s Challenge
Spawn announcement: The strong are gathering in Glimmerogg to test their mettle.
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-27.png)
To complete this event, you must click on the rock weights and complete a 10 second action each time until the challenge points bar is full. Sometimes Drogbar Participants will show up to steal the rock weights and you can bring their healthbar to zero to get them to go away.
Whirling Zephyr
Spawn announcement: The air hums with energy as the Primalists begin summoning a storm!
![](https://trueendgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/image-28.png)
For this event, you need to kill storm primalists in the area to loot their Hurricane Scepters. These are not guaranteed drops. Use the Scepters on the four lesser storm pylons to overload them. This will take 5 Scepters each. Once you have completed that, you will have to use 7 Scepters to destroy the greater storm pylon and you’ll finish the event!
