Bestowed Ottuk Vanguard
Family: Ottuk
Type: Achievement
Zone: Thaldraszus / Waking Shores
Faction: Both
Recommended Level: Level 70
Skill Level: 3/10
The Bestowed Ottuk Vanguard mount is obtained by completing the Valdrakken Accord themed meta achievement, Flight Club. This achievement is comprised of 11 smaller achievements, mainly focusing on Thaldraszus, the Obsidian Citadel and the Siege on Dragonbane Keep.
This meta achievement is timegated due to the Little Scales Daycare achievements required. The starter questline will take several days and then you will need to complete all possible daily quests. Assuming you log in every day, it will take between 16-19 days to fully complete everything you need to do. All other achievements for the meta are grindable.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that ottuk mounts have the swim speed of usual aquatic mounts with the added bonus of also being able to walk on land!
Hey Nanny Nanny
To complete this achievement, you will need to help hatch five helplings, one from each flight, and tend to their needs at the Little Scales Daycare. This is timegated as you can only get a few quests per day before having to wait until the next to progress. Make sure to visit daily!
To start, accept the Eggs in Abundance quest from Herald Flaps. He is a small protodrake that will show up next to your character in Valdrakken and follow you around. Once you’ve completed this quest, you will have unlocked the Little Scales Daycare. It is located right next to Valdrakken on its own little adjacent island to the west.
Proceed on the questline and you will be introduced to the obsidian hatchling, Rusziona. It will take four days to help her out before you will receive her as a pet. You will then get to hatch the red dragonflight’s egg with Belastrasza inside. Essentially, every four days you will get the previous whelpling as a pet and gather the next whelpling’s egg. It will proceed to Zhusadormu and then Zalethgos before ending with Posidriss. Upon completing the quest Hibernation with Posidriss, you’ll receive this achievement!
If you want to prepare in advance, you will need the following: 1x Roast Duck Delight, 1x Awakened Frost and 5x Hochenblume (2 star) to complete all these quests. They all can be purchased off of the auction house.
Whelp, There It Is
This achievement requires you to complete the main storyline of the Little Scales Daycare mentioned above. However, you can theoretically begin as soon as you get the first whelpling if her quests are up. Once fully completing the storyline, you should see three quests in the area that rotate daily. Characters with missing storyline unlocks will see fewer or no daily quests. You must complete all of the possible dailies to get this achievement.
There are three types of dailies. The first has something to do with preparing the Daycare. I believe they rotate in the order listed but I could be wrong. These quests are always picked up from either Agapanthus or Lasztak. The dailies include:
A Wealth of Whelp Snacks
Appetizing Aftermath
Hoard Behavior
Arts and Crafts and Baths
Off the Page
Fowl Runic Scribblings
The second type of daily is playing hide and seek with one of the whelplings and their friends. If you haven’t unlocked a whelpling yet, you will not be able to do this with them until you have. Same goes for the third daily that is also whelpling specific. Additionally, these quests are always given by the whelplings themselves. Hide and seek dailies are:
Dignified Disguises
Scanning the Stacks
Cozy Camouflage
Eternal Escapades
Obsidian Obfuscation
Lastly, the third daily is related to racing with your whelpling. Essentially, you will be put in a vehicle that looks just like them and will have to do a race, similar to the dragonriding races. However, you just have to complete the race not earn a specific medal. You will also have unique abilities related to the flight of the whelpling. These quests are always picked up from Celetiros. The racing dailies are:
Runaway Rusziona
Zhoomsa
Zaleth on the Go
Pole Position Posidriss
Blistering Belastrasza
Completion of this achievement will get you a letter in your mailbox from Agapanthus with the pet Axel attached.
Daycare Derby
As mentioned in the previous achievement, there is a third daily available at the Little Scales Daycare that has to do with racing. This achievement simply requires you to complete each of the five racing dailies one time.
Upon completion, you’ll receive the Whelps on Strings toy.
Siege on Dragonbane Keep: Home Sweet Home
This achievement is very simple and just requires you to complete the Siege on Dragonbane Keep event. You need to be renown 5 with the Valdrakken Accord to be able to participate in the Siege. The event is every two hours. This means there will be one hour when it’s not up. For the second hour, it will be available until it is completed on your shard.
To check if the Siege is currently active, you can look for the horn near the Obsidian Citadel on your Waking Shores map
Alternatively, you can check on the front page of Wowhead in the “Today in WoW” section. Make sure to select Dragonflight and your correct server for accurate info.
What is the Siege on Dragonbane Keep?
The Siege on Dragonbane Keep is a five part event where players work together to reclaim the Dragonbane Keep from the djaradin.
For the first part, the NPCs will head to the camp, following Beef the hornswog who is pulling a wagon, and you will have to defend them from attackers. Beef is actually the subject of the next achievement below.
In the second part, you will need to help set up a basecamp by interacting with yellow transparent objects to “build” them. You also need to kill any enemies left over in the area.
The third part requires everyone to kill djaradin forces until the bar reaches 100%. You must also kill two of the djaradin lieutenants, Scalepiercer and Wyrmeater.
To complete the fourth part, you must kill the elite djaradin Grand Flame at the entrance to the fort at the coordinates 24.6 70.4
Once the Grand Flame has died, quickly head to underground portion of the fort. It should be behind where the Grand Flame was.
You will turn a corner and go down to the lower level to face the final boss, Inferna the Bound.
Once Inferna dies, the event will be completed and you’ll receive your Dragonbane Keep Strongbox.
Siege on Dragonbane Keep: Snack Attack
For this achievement, you will need to feed Beef 20 times during the Siege of Dragonbane Keep. This can only be done in the first stage of the event when Beef is pulling the wagon. You do not have to do it all in the same Siege.
To feed Beef, you’ll want to find Beef Snacks around the area. They look like little lava snails. Once you’ve picked one up, head back to Beef and you should get an extra action button to feed it to him. If you can’t interact with the snails for some reason, try reloading!
Every time Beef is fed, he will gain movement speed, which causes the first stage to end faster. For this reason, it is optimal to do the Siege without a lot of other people.
You can check how many times Beef has been fed by checking his buffs. HOWEVER, this counter is not unique to you. If someone else feeds Beef, it will go up. This makes it not very accurate for tracking unless you’re alone.
Siege on Dragonbane Keep: Chiseled Record
To complete this achievement, you need to find and interact with three stone tablets in the Dragonbane Keep zone. Despite the name, they are available at any time. You do not need the Siege event to be up to do this achievement.
The first tablet, Wyrmeater’s Recipe, can be found inside a building leaning against the left side near the doorway.
The second, Complaint to Scalepiercer, can be found inside the left side of a building behind a large grindstone.
The third and final tablet, The Grand Flame’s Journal, can be found leaning up against the back side of building near a lava river. There’s also some Lavaslurper snails nearby.
I’m Playing All Sides
This achievement requires you to turn in one Restored Obsidian Key to each of the four possible NPCs: Wrathion, Sabellian, Igys the Believer, and Forgemaster Bazentus.
But first, let’s go over how to obtain Keys and what they’re used for.
How to obtain Obsidian Keys
Restored Obsidian Keys are made by combining 30 Key Fragments and 3 Key Framings. These items have a chance to drop off of enemies in the Obsidian Citadel area after picking either Wrathion or Sabellian for the Allegiance to One weekly world quest. You will then need to complete the Keys of Loyalty world quest as well.
If you can’t see world quests on your Dragon Isles map, you will need to complete the 10.0 main campaign questline on one character. If you are trying to do this achievement on an alt that didn’t do the campaign, you may need to speak to Kalendormu to be able to see Wrathion and Sabellian. Kalendormu is located on the top floor near the middle. Speaking to him will allow you to skip intro and unlock Obsidian Citadel quests.
What are Obsidian Keys for?
As mentioned above, you will need to pledge allegiance to either Wrathion or Sabellian for a weekly world quest. Keys are a grindable way to gain reputation with these dragons. The other method is through a couple quests they give after selecting them for the weekly. Reaching exalted with Wrathion and Sabellian is necessary to be able to obtain the Loyal Magmammoth mount. Keys also play a part in acquiring the Scrappy Worldsnail mount.
Where to farm for Obsidian Keys
One of the best places to farm Keys is in the basement of the Obsidian Citadel area, as there is a nice density of mobs down there and they respawn fairly fast. This farm is best done in a group so make sure to check custom groupfinder for an existing “Key Farm” group or maybe start your own! The inner courtyard is not a bad place to farm either.
Now that we’ve gone over the preliminary information, let’s get back into it.
NPC locations
Wrathion is found near the entrance to the basement of the Obsidian Citadel.
Forgemaster Bazentus can be found just up the right side stairs from where Wrathion is located.
Sabellian can be found on the left side of the very first level of the Obsidian Citadel.
Igys the Believer can be found in the Slagmire a bit east of the main Obsidian Citadel zone.
Obsidian Keymaster
To complete this achievement, you simply need to turn in a total of 30 Restored Obsidian Keys. It does not matter at all which NPC you turn them in to.
Obsidian Champion
For this achievement, you need to complete all four of the possible special encounters that are spawned by turning in Restored Obsidian Keys. They are:
Death’s Shadow
Clearing the Vault (Shas’ith)
Breaking the World (Morchok)
Forging the Answer
Anyone can turn in keys to spawn these events so hopefully you won’t be grinding them out by yourself. Death’s Shadow requires 20 keys turned in to Sabellian to spawn while Shas’ith requires 20 keys turned in to Wrathion. Morchok requires 10 keys turned in to Igys the Believer.
Forging the Answer requires 10 keys turned in to Forgemaster Bazentus. It is also unique in the fact that it isn’t a single mob that needs to be killed like the other three. Once the event is triggered, you’ll need to pick up a newly forged weapon that can be found around the area. Then, you will need to fill a percentage bar up to 100 by killing various djaradin mobs in the area.
You can check how many more Keys are needed close to the place where you turn them in at.
Adventurer of Thaldraszus
This achievement requires you to kill 10 out of 22 possible special encounter/rare mobs in Thaldraszus. I will go over each and every rare as I can’t predict which will be available to you when you’re trying to get this achievement!
Most of these rares are straightforward but there are some that have quirks, such as ones that are only available during certain times or events. Below is a map and coordinates for all rares except those that have multiple spawn locations as they would add a lot of clutter. If a rare has a red star next to it, it has a quirk that I’ve touched on below. I’ve also gone over multiple spawn point rares. If you do not see a rare mentioned, assume it functions as normal rare does. Some of the rares listed simply do not show up on the main map or minimap but rest assured– they still count for the achievement!
It may be worth it to download an addon such as RareScanner or SilverDragon as they will give you a popup and audio notification whenever you’re close to a rare. You can also customize them if neither of those options sound particularly good to you. These addons can be especially helpful for rares with multiple spawn points!
Also, I wanted to note that some rares are behind rock walls that usually require someone with the mining profession to open. Alternatively, anyone can open them with either EZ-Thro Primal Deconstruction Charge or Expedition Explosives. These rares are: Rokmar, Riverwalker Tamopo and Sandana the Tempest.

Multiple spawn points
Innumerable Ruination can spawn at several points in the Temporal Conflux area and will then walk around. Here is the general area of where it can spawn.
Razk’vex the Untamed runs very fast around Steelcliff Passage in a big loop. I’ve circled the general area below.
By getting close, you can mount him. He will become like a vehicle and you will need to spam all of your new action buttons on him to get him to stop. Once he stops, you’ll be kicked off and then you can kill Razk’vex like a normal rare.
Spawn quirks
Ancient Protector must be summoned by combining 5 Unstable Matrix Cores. These have a high drop rate from Titan Defense Matrix orbs in the Tyrhold area and have a 15 minute expiry date.
Once you combine 5, you will get a Unsustainable Containment Core that will only sit in your bags for 5 minutes. Take this Core to one of four possible titanic reactors in the area.
/way #2025 61, 55.1 Northern Pillar
/way #2025 59.4, 56.8 Northeastern Pillar
/way #2025 59.5, 60.7 Southeastern Pillar
/way #2025 60.9, 62.4 Eastern Pillar
Clicking the vortex inside will charge the reactor and power the pillar. The rare should then spawn in its intended spot.
Blightpaw the Depraved is actually located in the Ohn’ahran Plains. Why is it part of the Thaldraszus rares achievement? No idea.
Besides that quirk, you first need to speak to Archaeologist Koranir nearby to make Blightpaw attackable.
Corrupted Proto-Dragon requires you to click on a Corrupted Dragon Egg inside a building built into the cliffside for it to spawn.
Craggravated Elemental is spawned by clicking on a rock wall. Unlike other rock walls, you do not need any special tools or the mining profession for this one!
Lord Epochbrgl is spawned by clicking on a Unstable Time Rift inside a building in the Temporal Conflux zone. If the portal isn’t up, it won’t spawn. Additionally, you may need to complete the Time Management Thaldraszus storyline that has to do with the area to be able to see this rare.
The Great Shellkhan requires you to deliver an item to a Tuskarr nearby before becoming attackable. First, make sure Shellkhan is up and Patient Vaargo is nearby. Then, head to the Kauriq Gleamlet near the Azure Archives to pick up Case of Fresh Gleamfish. Note that this item will only exist in your inventory for 15 minutes so make sure to get back in time.
Now, head back to Great Shellkhan and give the fish crate to Patient Vaargo. You should then be able to attack the rare. Also, it has a chance to drop The Super Shellkhan Gang toy.
The Weeping Vilomah is inside a big cave. It requires you to speak to a goblin named Boomhooch the Lost. He is found in the back of a cave on the bottom level surrounded by many bird corpses. Speaking to him will cause the rare to spawn and attack you.
Woolfang will jump down to attack you after petting one of the Wooly Lambs in the area.
Specific schedule rares
Broodweaver Araznae
Eldoren the Reborn
Matriarch Remalla
Phleep
Riverwalker Temapo
Rokmur
Sandana the Tempest
Tempestrian
Treasure-Mad Trambladd
All of the rares mentioned above are part of a 28 rare cycle that includes rares from each of the 4 main Dragon Isles zones. One of the rares spawns every 30 minutes so it takes a total of 14 hours to get through them all before the cycle resets again.
Here is a very useful googledoc that lists the spawn schedule of all the affected rares for both North America and Europe. Alternatively, you can look on the first page of Wowhead in the “Today in WoW” section under Timed Dragon Isles Rares to see which ones will be spawning in the next 2 hours. Make sure to click the appropriate region and expansion options!
Treasures of Thaldraszus
To complete this achievement, you will need to collect six treasures in Thaldraszus. Most of them are pretty easy to get, however two have a bit of randomness involved and may require lots of grinding.
Acorn Harvester
This treasure can be found near a big tree in the Tyrhold Reservoir, east of Valdrakken.
Once you make it to the location, you should be able to see several Acorns around the tree. Try having Outline Mode turned on in your graphics settings if you’re having trouble spotting them. Pick up the Acorn and give it to the critter nearby named Acorn Harvester.
After a short channel, you’ll receive the pet Chestnut in your inventory!
Elegant Canvas Brush
This treasure is found on the ground in a little painting nook directly under the starting point for the Academy Ascent dragonriding race. This is near the dungeon entrance to Algeth’ar Academy.
The Elegant Canvas Brush you get from this treasure vendors for 2,112 gold and can be picked up on every character. This makes it a pretty easy way to earn some extra money if you have the time!
Surveyor’s Magnifying Glass
The Surveyor’s Magnifying Glass treasure can be found on the ground inside a cave in the Veiled Ossuary zone in the most northern part of Thaldraszus.
Sandy Wooden Duck
For this treasure, you’ll first want to head the Flowing Forest, which is the leafy forest area just before the sandy Temporal Conflux zone. There will be a small Tuskarr named Yennu sitting next to a tree. Beside him to the right is an item you need to pick up called Yennu’s Map.
Yennu’s Map will go into your inventory after you collect it. Right click use it and you should see a chest appear on your map where the treasure is.
At the treasure location, you should find a sand pile near a river and some rocks in the Shifting Sands zone. Open the Sand Pile. You do not actually get a Sandy Wooden Duck item for some reason but it should count as completion for the achievement!
This last two treasures is where it starts to get a bit more complicated. First, let’s talk about how to unlock treasure maps as you’ll need to loot them to find the last treasures you need.
How to Unlock Treasure Maps
To unlock the ability to loot treasure maps in the Dragon Isles, you need to first loot Dragon Isles Supply Bag from any Primal Proto-Drake located in the Waking Shores. They are especially common in the north east section of the map, near where you landed after taking the zeppelin when you first came to the Dragon Isles. After looting it, complete the associated item quest.
You should then be able to pick up the quest Funding a Treasure Hunt from Cataloger Jakes at the coordinates 76.6 34.2. Next, buy the map Archeologist Artifact Notes from her and use it to find the intro treasure, Golden Dragon Goblet. Now you can find treasure maps for other treasures around the Dragon Isles!
Cracked Hourglass
Once you’ve learned about maps, you can then hunt for the Time-Lost Memo treasure map, which is required to be able to find and loot this treasure. This item can be found in most chests/treasures but it has a low drop chance. The most farmable are Expedition Scout’s Pack, which is unlocked at renown 2 with Dragonscale Expedition and Disturbed Dirt, which requires renown 5. They can be found in any of the four main Dragon Isles zones.
To dig the Disturbed Dirt, you need a shovel. One option is the Small Expedition Shovel which you can buy for 15 Dragon Isles Supplies from Cataloger Jakes at the Dragonscale Basecamp in the Waking Shores. It has 5 uses before it disappears. Alternatively, you can buy the Sturdy Expedition Shovel from the auction house. It has 20 uses before it disappears. I would suggest farming Dirt in the Ohn’ahran Plains specifically due to the high density of piles.
Once you’ve finally looted the required treasure map, right click it in your inventory. The Cracked Hourglass can then be found in the back of a large cave in the Gardens of Unity with many porcupines and frogs nearby.
Amber Gem Cluster
You’ll need to find the Bear Termination Orders map. You have to unlock treasure maps as mentioned previously. The method for getting this map is the exact same as well, except for the fact you will need to be renown 21 with the Dragonscale Expedition first to be able to loot them. They also have a very low drop chance.
Once you’ve looted and used the map, you can find the Amber Gem Cluster inside a small cave full of bones in the Flowering Forest zone.
With the gem you get, you can either put in a crafting order for a Jeweled Amber Whelpling at the Artisan’s Market (assuming you’re not a jewelcrafter yourself) OR use it to buy Amber Dragonflame Blade from Unatos inside the Seat of the Aspects (where the main city portals are) in Valdrakken. You must be renown 29 with the Valdrakken Accord on one of your characters to be able to buy the sword.
